Fung shui room

The best Feng Shui bed room tip that a Feng Shui expert can offer you is to have your bed in ‘command position’. But first you should understand what feng shui is, this was a definition taken from a website...

It is important for you to know Feng Shui is an ancient spiritual discipline which makes use of a process that affects your internal landscape just as much as it affects your physical environment be your home, office or your bed room. Before you start practicing or using Feng Shui enhancements to your living environment it is important for you to know that it is for nourishing and healing your soul. In a Feng Shui practice one is enriching the soul by directing the energies of universe and natural elements such as wind, water, earth, metals to it.

Yeah, so basically if you arrange the stuff in your living environment to direct out your negative energy and focus on the positive energy you can sleep better and feel better.

Bedroom is a place where you spend 1/3 of your time so having proper balance of yin and yang is very essential, some yang energy is essential, because it helps you stay motivated get going with your day-to-day chores but too much yang on the other hand can drive you nuts! It can make you feel chaotic, frenzied and over-stimulated. It can make you feel too passionate, so that you can never just sit back and relax in your bed room.

A command position for your bed room in Feng Shui means that you face the door from the far side of the room but are not directly in front of the door. The part of the room diagonally farthest from the entry offers the best Command Position for your bed, it is this position, you are able to benefit from the Chi that enters and flows through the space, while being far enough removed from the doorway that you are not exposed to Chi that is too strong.

Another Feng Shui bed room tip is that you keep your bed in a position that provides a solid wall behind you for support. Using this position puts you in visual command of the space, and allows you to face life directly, both literally and symbolically.

Sleeping in line with the door also exposes you to excessive Chi, which can contribute to stress, irritability and health problems, but keeping your bed in commanding position prevents you from negative influences and puts you in control of your space and of your life.

Another Feng Shui bed room tip that I would like to mention about is that never keep your working desk or computer in your bedroom. The logic behind this Feng Shui tip is that the energy of computer (work) and that of rest (bed) are opposite to each other and are therefore incompatible to each other. But in case you cannot avoid this combination you can at least separate the two by using Feng Shui Elements.

Use these tips and you will be fung shui-ed in no time!

All about REM

What is REM? REM stands for rapid eye movement. Paid eye movement is a normal stage of sleep characterized by the rapid movement of eyes. It's like your eyes having a party while you sleep! It was identified in the 1950's.

Certain neutrons in the brain stem, know as REM sleep-on cells, are particularly active during REM, and are probably responsible for it. If you don't get enough REM sleep you can develop REM sleep disorder, which is where you will act out the movements in your dreams.

Sleep aids the process by which creativity forms associative elements into new combinations that are useful or meet some requirement. This occurs in REM sleep rather than in NREM sleep. Rather than being due to memory processes, this has been attributed to changes during REM sleep in cholinergic and noradrenergic neuromodulation. During REM sleep high levels of acetylcholine in the hippocampus suppress feedback from hippocampus to the neocortex, and lower levels of acetylcholine and norepinephrine in the neocortex encourage the spread of associational activity within neocortical areas without control from the hippocampus. This is in contrast to waking consciousness, where higher levels of norepinephrine and acetylcholine inhibit recurrent connections in the neocortex. REM sleep through this process adds creativity by allowing "neocortical structures to reorganise associative hierarchies, in which information from the hippocampus would be reinterpreted in relation to previous semantic representations or nodes."

Why do we snore?

At some point it has or will happen to you. Snoring. You know, that really annoying sound you make that makes it about 10 times harder for whoever is next to you to fall asleep? Yes that. It leaves us all wondering: Why? Why do we snore?

The palate, uvula and tonsils are the tissue structures that flap against each other when someone has too much tissue at the back of their mouth or when an obstruction is blocking the air passageway to the back of the throat (Like your tongue). So basically if your lying on your back and your tongue is flopping all down your throat your going to start snoring! And you will continue to snore until you roll over!

So, Roll over

How much sleep do we need?

Today studies show that people who get 6.5h and 7.5h live the longest? So sleeping those eight hours may just be shortening your life span! There is a just as is much a risk with sleep to much as there is with sleeping to little. So sleeping 8h may be worse then sleep for 5.

The ideal amount of sleep for different health measures isn't always in the same place. Sleeping to long and sleeping too little has been know to lead to various illness such as depression, anxiety, heart disease and even obesity.

But we still don't really know if a short sleeper will live shorter if he starts to sleep to long or if a long sleeper starts setting his alarm clock back a bit.

It's okay to have a short sleep because in the long run in can actually help you get to sleep faster. Getting out of bed when your not sleepy and going to bed a little later in just fine! It's always difficult to get the right amour of sleep every single night so talk to your doctor or health care specialist to see which amour of sleep is right for you.
